My 2022 Year In Review

Every December as I’m planning the new year that’s quickly approaching, I love to reflect back on what the current year brought me.

2022 started out with a bang as my hubby Jim and I rang in New Year’s Eve with an epic road trip to Florida (that’s 18 hours of playing the license plate game, counting dead animals on the side of the road, and talking about the most random things like where we were when Kurt Cobain died). We had such an amazing time getting to see our dear friends who moved to Taveniere and my aunt and uncle who moved to Fort Myers.

As for my business, 2022 kicked off with co-hosting a mastermind for master certified wellness coaches with Suzanne Monroe, my dear colleague and founder of The International Association of Wellness Professionals (The IAWP). I also trained 5 new master certified group coach leaders. I love opportunities to help grow The IAWP community and especially to mentor master wellness coaches and see their confidence and skills grow.

I also enrolled in a marketing group program hosted by Ashley Enget-Weaver where I learned her “Lazy Marketing Method” which completely transformed my content marketing from more random topics to being more strategic and intentional.

Jim and I stayed in the below freezing Missouri weather for nearly all of winter, then in the Spring, traveled back to St. Martin in the Caribbean (we’re basically the opposite of “snowbirds”:)!

By April, my coaching program with Ashley Enget-Weaver had ended and I was raring to find my next investment and mentor to continue to support my growing business and love of learning. After interviewing a number of business coaches and programs, I came across Momentum, a UK based business mentorship program headed by Karen Skidmore. Turns out that investment, while the most I’ve invested in my business at one time (to date) has proven to be the most impactful thing for myself and my business.

The focus of Momentum is to teach you how to show up and run your business as a strategic CEO instead of a freelancer, solopreneur, or burnout biz boss. Through Momentum’s encouragement and guidance, I hired Monica, my online business manager.

Monica’s taken this “mom and pop, doing all.the.things while nearing burnout” solopreneur to now having her and her team behind me waving their magic fairy wands getting my client onboarding, SOPs, organization, and several courses and new programs created and launched. Monica’s also great at business strategy and planning, so I finally feel like I have a business partner in crime instead of working constantly by my lonesome.

In the Spring and early Summer, Jim and I also had lots of visitors to St. Martin. I like to think it’s because we’re such delightful people, but it could have something to do with this:

Mid June, I flew solo back to St. Louis, Missouri area to help my family run our fireworks empire to help celebrate the 4th of July with colorful explosives. When I tell others my family owns a fireworks operation, they often don’t know what to think; like we’ve got a little pop up stand we set up off the side of the highway.

But no, selling fireworks has been in our family and extended family for over 50 years! My parents started theirs when I was just 5 years old and I’ve worked it every year since I was 8 (the child labor laws were different in the 80s I swear:)! We have numerous tent locations as well as a huge fireworks superstore. Fireworks are part of my life blood!

Unfortunately, it also meant being away from Jim for 5 weeks, who stayed in St. Martin as his sister was coming to visit (sadly, I had to miss her). But I was able to see my oldest sister Lisa and her family (who live in Washington State), who I hadn’t seen in person in almost 3 years because of Covid.

In July, I also changed my business bank account from the local bank I’d been using since I was like 9 years old and used for my business as well, and switched to Capital One. Wow, I can’t personally sing their praises enough! I went from owing my local bank money for things like international fees (since my health coaching clients are located all over the world) to earning hundreds of dollars in interest each month and even more back in rewards with Capital One.

July was also my highest income month to date which is really exciting by itself…but especially because of fireworks and my family visiting as well as traveling back to St. Martin, I worked the least…less than 10 days that month!! That’s what passive income and automating your business can bring you!

August, I celebrated my birthday (I turned 30…again:) and Jim and I’s 15th year wedding anniversary. Also in August, I joined Louise Henry’s Passive Product Accelerator Program as I had creating a digital passive product on my business bucket list for a while now. Well Louise NEVER disappoints! This group coaching program and accompanying course was AMAZING! From it, I created the $5k Month Mindset Mini-Course for entrepreneurs, particularly health and wellness coachpreneurs, to implement the 5 must make mindset shifts to achieve $5k months and beyond in their business.

October was a big month as I received a clean bill of health from my oncologist (I’m now nearly 7 years cancer free from the Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Diagnosis I received in 2016). You never take your health for granted after a cancer diagnosis!

Jim and I also left St. Martin and headed back to St. Louis (insert tears, but also excitement to see family, friends, and Fall trees).

Also in October, I created  2 new coaching business programs; well, they’re not new per se, as they were both under my 1 umbrella signature business coaching program called Business Building Breakthrough (BBB). But the more clients I take through BBB to help them create their health coaching business foundation, I realize trying to do ALL the business foundation pieces along with all the copywriting and mindset support I give my clients, it just couldn’t all be done how I had it set up.

That’s when the F.A.S.T. Track and the S.C.A.L.E. Track was born. The F.A.S.T. Track is for newbie health coaches wanting to build their coaching business foundation as quickly as possible without all the confusion, overwhelm, and time wasting (we work on F = Fuel/Mindset, A = Audience/Niche, S = Signature System/Framework, T = Tailor Made Sales Page).

S.C.A.L.E. Track (sales page coming soon) is for more seasoned health coaches who already have their coaching business foundation in place and are wanting to attract and nurture their audience and get paying clients. In S.C.A.L.E., we work on getting visible;  S = Strategize your YOUnique marketing, C = Content Creation, A = Ask for Collaborations & Getting in Front of Others’ Audiences, L = Lead Magnet, E = Email Marketing).

In November, Jim and I traveled back to St. Martin and were able to celebrate Thanksgiving here (Insert gratefulness). I also took 2 copywriting courses as my skill and love for copywriting and copyediting continues to grow with each passing month.

While I’ve been helping my health coaching clients with their copywriting for the past couple of years now, it’s always been something I’ve done more “on the side” or as a bonus…UNTIL NOW!

Here’s a sneak peak of what’s coming to Albers Mind & Body Wellness in 2023 (and beyond): Copywriting Services!!

Are you a female health and wellness coach/entrepeneur and struggling with:

The remainder of November and December have been busy with creating my copywriting services, serving my health coaching clients, Thanksgiving and taking some time off, Jim and I’s besties coming in to visit, planning for 2023, and traveling back home to St. Louis to celebrate the holidays with friends and family.
