Content Creation Made Easy: 6 Practical Tips for Busy Coaches

Ever felt like you're trying to crack the code to content creation, blindfolded, with one hand tied behind your back?

You're not alone!

One of the most common challenges I hear from Coaches like you is the struggle to whip up compelling content without feeling plagued by the “I have no idea what to say” monster.

But guess what?

There’s an easier way!
I've got some insider secrets to share. Here are 6 strategies that I personally use to make content creation a breeze.

Let's dive in and unlock the mysteries of crafting killer content!

Here’s 6 strategies I personally use to make content creation easier:

1. Keep it in 1 place:

I keep a running list of mindset shifts, quotes, and content ideas all together on 1 trello board on my phone.

I listen to a ton of webinars, masterclasses, and business training in the mornings while getting ready for work, so it’s very easy to press pause and jot a quick content note on my Trello Board.

Also a lot of ideas hit me in the shower or when I’m out walking, so it’s great to have a place where I can collect all my ideas in 1 place.

*Of course you don’t have to use Trello; you might check out Asana, OneNote, or Evernote. Or if you’re more of a paper and pen kinda guy or gal, that of course works too; whatever your method, just make sure you always have the ability to capture your ideas.

2. Batch Your Content Creation:

I block out the 2nd Monday and 3rd Monday of every month to create content. During the 1st Monday block, I brainstorm content ideas and create rough drafts/outlines/notes for 2 blogs, 2 emails, and any other content I’m creating; for example, for a course, video, or digital product.

The 2nd Monday block, I edit my content and add it to my team Asana board for them to schedule and add any links it may need.

Your block of time of course may look different than mine; whether you block an hour/day; 1 day/week, or 1-2 days/month…whatever you choose, but prioritize blocking out time.

I also recommend creating separate writing blocks to create your first draft of your content and then a separate 1 to edit it. The problem many of my coaching clients have is they try to edit as they write and then get frustrated that it takes so long. Give yourself permission to make the first draft messy and just get all your thoughts down. In a separate sitting, you can then organize, edit, and remove what doesn’t fit.

**In case you’re thinking, “Well that’s nice that you have a team, Laura, but I don’t have a team to do that for me.” First, I hear you! I was in my coaching biz for 4.5 years before I brought on a VA. Then once I did, I thought how incredibly silly it was not for me to have done that MUCH sooner!

For VERY reasonable prices, you can get help in your business and free up tons of your time and energy so you can focus on what only you can do.

3. Reuse and Repurpose:

Don't reinvent the wheel every time. I’m a big fan of creating 1 longer form piece of content and repurposing it to get the most mileage from it.

I like to write, so for me that long-form content is a blog. Then I take the blog, and make social posts, an email, and sometimes use it as a guide, worksheet, or digital product.

If you feel less than confident writing, but you’d like to get better at it, check out my blog, 7 Ways to Uplevel Your Writing Today.

Or you could consider creating videos or audios as your long-form content and then repurpose them as your social posts, emails, training videos, etc.

4. uSE AI:

Resources like ChatGPT, Jasper, Canva AI, and many others are lifesavers when it comes to making content creation easier.

Not only can they help you brainstorm content ideas, but you can also use them to help you craft compelling subject lines and headlines, and introductions.

Another way I like to use ChatGPT is to paste my longer content and ask ChatGPT to make it more concise.

I don’t think AI is going anyway soon, so we might as well use it to our benefit!

5. Create Content Themes:

Utilizing themes or categories for your content creation can help make the whole process more streamlined and fun.

There’s many different ways to do this, here’s a few ideas I’l share:

  1. Create a monthly theme for the year, such as January is fitness, February is nutrition, March is sleep, etc. and then all of your content that month focuses on a subtopic or specific tip under that topic, and it points to how you help your clients achieve that transformation in your program. You’ll of course want your themes to be very specific to your ideal client.

  2. You could break your content into different types, so for example, each month you share 4 posts about your lead magnet with the link to sign up, 2 sales posts that share an offer, 2 inspirational quotes to boost engagement, 2 client testimonials, and 2 tips/value filled posts and then sprinkle these throughout the month to your email list, social media, and/or wherever you connect with your audience.

  3. If you post daily, you could have a daily theme, such as Motivational Monday, Tip Tuesday, Wednesday Wins, Thursday FAQ’s, and FridayFaves.

6. Let Your Clients Tell You:

I am constantly adding to my Trello content board the words, phrases, and examples my wellness coaching clients share with me because what better way to create content than from what my ideal clients are actually telling me!

You can get your client’s language from:

  • Discovery calls

  • Client sessions

  • Emails they send you

  • Their initial intake form

  • Conducting client interviews

  • Polls or surveys

And speaking of surveys, I have a survey I’d love for you to complete to understand your needs better, and also you can use the questions I ask to make your own survey to send your audience to get to know them better and gain content ideas.

There you have it, 6 strategies I personally use to make content creation easier and more enjoyable. I hope these strategies and tips help you crack the code of content creation and turn it into a joyful and rewarding experience.

Let's not keep this journey to ourselves – share your successes, your struggles, and those content creation wins. Together, we can build a community of thriving content creators who create valuable content!
