5 Emotional Triggers Every Coach Needs in Their Copy

Ever feel like you’re pouring your heart into your content, but it’s just not clicking with your audience the way you’d hoped?

You’re not alone!

Whether you’re crafting a sales page or writing promo emails, your prospects need to feel more than just informed—they need to feel deeply understood.

Connecting with your ideal clients on a deeper, emotional level is the secret sauce that can transform your words into something that truly resonates and inspires action. People buy based on emotions first and logic second, so if you want to turn those curious readers into loyal clients, there are 5 key emotions you absolutely need to address.

In this blog, I’m diving into these 5 emotions, and showing you how to weave them into your content to build that essential trust and connection.

Emotion 1: Feel Seen:

Your Ideal Client (IC) needs to feel acknowledged and validated. You do this by talking about where they're currently at, which is stuck in the struggle; so here you're talking about their symptoms and pain points. A great exercise to do is brainstorm at least 30 pain points/symptoms/obstacles your IC faces. Each of these can become at least 1 piece of content and will help your IC really feel understood.

Emotion 2: Feel safe:

They need to trust you and that you've got them. This is where you can share your story and how you've been where they are; you can also share your expertise, credentials, etc. They need to understand you truly get them.

Emotion 3: Feel empowered:

They need to believe they can get the results you're promising. You can do this by showcasing client case studies and testimonials, particularly those that highlight how they were once where your IC currently is.

Emotion 4: Feel Excited:

They need to believe it's possible and get excited about the results they'll experience when they invest with you. You can do this by sharing the results to expect, the features of your program, the support and accountability they'll receive and how your program is different than what they've tried before. You can share your unique framework for how you’ll help guide them step by step when they work with you.

Emotion 5: Feel Committed:

They need a sense of urgency; that now is the time to act. You can do this by letting them know why NOW is the time to act (change); sharing what happens if they don't take action, and if there's a reason to invest now (such as there's limited spots available, or the current pricing ends soon, etc). You can also share how you help them with accountability.

So there you have it: 5 emotions to address in your copy to build the crucial layers of the know, like, and trust factor, and help empower your prospects who are ready to invest with you.

When you help your ideal clients feel seen, safe, empowered, excited, and committed, you’re building a foundation of trust and emotional connection that leads them to say "yes" to working with you.

Take a moment to reflect on your own copy—are you already addressing these emotions? Or is there one you’re finding a bit tricky to convey?
